The penultimate game in the Reserves season sees semi-final hopefuls Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity go head-to-head at The DIY Kitchens Stadium on Friday night as part of a double header with the main Super League game, kick off 5.15pm.

The two sides head into this week's game level on 17 league points, keeping them three points behind second-placed Warrington but in range of the chasing Hull FC, who are still mathematically in with a chance of sneaking into the fourth and final Play-Off spot.

For Leeds, their campaign took a hit last time out as Warrington Wolves pulled out a comprehensive performance to inflict a second defeat on Chev Walker's side since the season split took place. Along with a loss to Wigan at AMT Headingley and a win over Castleford Tigers at The OneBore Stadium, the Rhinos are in a stronger position than the Yorkshire rivals as their points difference keeps the club third in the standings, but a defeat on Friday would mean that Leeds would have to beat Hull FC at AMT Headingley in their final game to confirm a top four finish.

It's fitting that sides should come into the game on level on league points after they opened the season with a stalemate at Stanningley back in February. Tries from Ben Littlewood, Riley Lumb and Ned McCormack for Leeds couldn't separate them from a spirited Trinity side, so fans can certainly expect a battle prior the Men's Super League clash afterwards at 8pm.

Since that draw at Stanningley, Wakefield rallied to win five consecutive games as they look for their best season finish since reaching the Grand Final in 2022. Hull, Bradford, Castleford, Saints and Leigh all fell to Trinity as they moved towards the summit of the table, only for Hull KR, Warrington and Wigan to keep the side grounded as they finished inside the all-important top six spots.

Like Leeds, Trinity started their post-season campaign with a defeat as Hull FC avenged their earlier loss in a 34-22 final score, before Wigan managed to secure a 26-16 result a week later. The side finally got their first win also against Castleford in a 42-10 final score, and will host Warrington in their final game next Saturday after facing off against the Rhinos on Friday.
